After Arsenals humiliating defeat of 8-2 at Old Trafford, it was clear that Arsene Wenger, Arsenals manager had to act according to some what save this club from future misery. This was really the last straw and in his mind he was probably thinking, 'better late than never'. Although Arsenal managed to secure 5 signings during the last transfer window, this was one of the poorest starts of the season for Arsenal.

More horrific news for Arsenal continues, when only after a day had passed after sealing a season long loan with Sunderland, Arsenals striker Nicklas Bendtner vowed never to return to his former club. He claimed that he has the talent to succeed and perform at a higher level but was never given the right chances and opportunities by Arsenal. Nicklas Bendtner, the Denmark international has had confidence issues ever since recovering from a car crash two years ago. The incident might have traumatized him more then he had expected. Bendtner was quoted saying "I will never play for Arsenal agian" and, "If i can have it my way, I will never play for them again". (Mikel Arteta wearing the Everton jersey)
They say every cloud has a silver lining. Could Mikel Arteta be Arsenal's silver lining? Arteta, the Spanish international had just recently completed his move to Arsenal from his previous club Everton. Arsenal was looking for the opportunity to seal the deal after they had lost two of their main key players Cecs Fabregas and Samir Nasri. In a recent interview with David Moyes, Everton's manager said that "Mikel indicated that he wishes to transfer to Arsenal if a bid came in".
